Junior
School students up to Class VI to XII and introductory-level learners.
Clear observation of a local problem and a simple working solution, or a well-reasoned service or governance idea. A prototype is encouraged but not mandatory.
Level 2
Technical
Students of Industrial Training Institutes and Polytechnics.
Hands-on engineering, fabrication, electronics or process solutions. A working prototype under Track A; a costed and field-tested delivery model under Track B.
Level 3
Open
Undergraduate students and above, including postgraduate students and research scholars.
A demonstrated prototype or pilot with a credible pathway to deployment, supported by cost, beneficiaries, timeline, impact and scalability.

FAQs
A national platform for young innovators to develop practical solutions to problems of local and national importance, with a focus on feasibility, impact and implementation. Promising innovations may receive mentorship, technical guidance and incubation.
Students of Schools, ITIs, Polytechnics, and Colleges/Universities in the participating regions. Participation is institution-led — a nominated coordinator registers the institution and nominates entries. Students cannot register directly.
The nominated coordinator completes the registration form with institution type, Institute ID (UDISE/AISHE), name, state, district and mandal, then their coordinator details. An 8-digit code is sent to the official email to confirm and activate the account.
Track A — Product & Technology: developable and deployable devices, prototypes, software, materials or engineering solutions. Track B — Business Model & Governance: innovative service delivery, financing, institutional, process or governance models. Both tracks have equal standing, and entries may combine the two.
Junior (school students up to Class XII), Technical (ITI and Polytechnic students) and Open (undergraduates and above, including postgraduates and research scholars). Both tracks are open at every level.
Junior: a clearly observed local problem with a simple working solution or a well-reasoned idea; a prototype is encouraged but not mandatory. Technical: a working prototype under Track A, or a costed and field-tested delivery model under Track B. Open: a demonstrated prototype or pilot with a credible pathway to deployment.
Swachh & Sustainable Bharat; Samriddh Annadata, Samriddh Bharat; Swasth & Samavesh Bharat; Shikshit & Kaushal Bharat; and Surakshit Bharat.
National launch: 25 September 2026. Challenge and submission window: 25 September – 24 October 2026. National Finale at IISc Bengaluru: 10 – 17 December 2026.
Zonal evaluation by NIT Directors, Zonal Heads and experts selects the top 5 innovations per theme across both tracks. These receive mentoring, bootcamps and field validation before the final evaluation by IISc. Criteria: problem clarity, originality, feasibility, cost, impact and scalability.
In each of the five themes: First prize ₹10 lakh, Second prize ₹5 lakh and Third prize ₹3 lakh. Winners also receive mentorship, incubation and support for adoption by government, PSUs, local bodies and industry.
